Scalpers Are Already Trying To Flog Download Festival Australia Tickets Online

Tickets to the first-ever Australian edition of Download Festival have only been available via a pre-sale for a few hours, but scalpers have already started advertising them online for hundreds of dollars more than they’re worth.

An exclusive pre-sale opened at 9am AEDT this morning, Monday, 13th November, for Optus customers who were keen to get tickets early before Download makes its Aussie debut in Melbourne next March.

By this afternoon, Music Feeds had spotted tickets being offered for sale on sites like eBay, Ticketmaster Resale and the controversial Swiss-based site Viagogo, for up to twice their original price.

General Admission tickets, which were originally sold for $169.90 each, have been seen on eBay for as much as $375 a piece…

…while Download Festival’s $289.90 ‘RIP’ VIP tickets have been advertised on Viagogo for as much as $400 a pop.

The Optus Perks pre-sale for Download Festival Melbourne will run until 9am AEDT Tuesday, 14th November, or until the pre-sale allocation of tickets is exhausted. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public at 9am AEDT on Thursday, 16th November.

It’s unclear if Download Festival Australia organisers are planning on establishing an official resale facility to help ticket-holders sell tickets they no longer want or need. Music Feeds has contacted organisers for comment.

The first-ever Download Festival Australia will be headlined by the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit and Prophets Of Rage, but there are a number of big-name acts that organisers were in discussions with who didn’t make the final bill.
