New EP From The Besnard Lakes

Excellent Montreal rockers the Besnard Lakes enjoyed a healthy tour of Australia earlier this year on the back of their fine second album, The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night, released in 2010. Now, news has emerged that the band are to put out a pretty special EP.

According to Consequence of Sound the Besnard Lakes were asked to contribute music to a new documentary called Welcome To Pine Point. The documentary uses a web interface featuring video, art, photography and music to tell the story of Canadian mining town Pine Point, a town whose industry was largely destroyed when its zinc mine closed.

Co-director of the project, one Michael Simmons, asked his old friend Jase Lasek, Besnard Lakes frontman, to compose some music for the idea, which he duly did.

The result of Lasek’s labours is a 12″ EP entitled You Lived In The City, which is available during the band’s forthcoming US tour as well as via mail through SC Distribution, as of September 20. The EP includes new original material as well as cover of We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time) by fellow Canadians Trooper.

The tracklist for You Lived In The City is:

We’re Here For a Good Time (Not A Long Time)

Holiday Sin
