U2 Say They’re “Absolutely” Going To Tour Australia Soon

U2 have revealed they’re planning on touring Australia again soon — potentially in 2018, and potentially as part of their current 30th anniversary tour for 1987 album The Joshua Tree.

In an interview with 60 Minutes which aired last night, U2’s Bono and The Edge said Aussies should expect to see them down under soon, for what would be their first Aussie tour since 2010.

“Unfortunately, it’s partly the distance and all that stuff, but we absolutely are coming,” The Edge said.

“We want to go, we really do and if there’s any way we can, we will,” said Bono.

U2’s 2010 Australian tour saw them perform multiple shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, in support of their 2009 album No Line On The Horizon.

Since then, devoted local fans have petitioned for the band to bring the Joshua Tree tour down under, and it looks like all their hard work might soon pay off.

U2’s new album Songs Of Experience is set for release this Friday, 1st December.
