Aussie rock legend and late AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young has been farewelled by family, friends and fans at a funeral in Sydney today.
Hundreds of people gathered at Sydney’s St Mary’s Cathedral for the service, including Young’s brother and fellow AC/DC co-founder Angus Young, as well as longtime AC/DC singer Brian Johnson, Jimmy Barnes and The Angels’ John and Rick Brewster, News Corp reports. One of Malcolm Young’s guitars was also brought into the church for the service.
Ex-AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was also in attendance, as were the likes of Rose Tattoo’s Angry Anderson, concert promoter Michael Chugg and Sony Music CEO Denis Handlin.

…while the eulogies were read by David Albert (from AC/DC’s founding record label Alberts Music) and Young’s nephew Bradley Horsburgh. The ABC reports that Albert described Young as a “musical mastermind” who remained humble throughout his career.
Following the service, a pipe band played ‘Waltzing Matilda’ as the funeral procession left St Mary’s, and reportedly snuck in a few bars of AC/DC’s ‘It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)’ for good measure…

Malcolm Young died on Saturday, 18th November at the age of 64, after suffering from dementia. He is survived by his wife Linda and their children Ross and Cara.
