UPDATE: TMZ has now updated its story to reflect the fact that Chester Bennington wasn’t found to be under the influence of drugs at the time of his death. Their updated report reads:

“According to the autopsy and toxicology results, obtained by TMZ, the Linkin Park singer’s blood also tested “presumptive positive” for MDMA (ecstasy) … based on one test. Two subsequent tests did not detect the drug, and the ultimate conclusion was Chester was not under the influence of drugs when he died.”

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has also pointed out the update on Twitter:

ORIGINAL STORY: Late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington‘s toxicology results have been revealed, and they show the singer had drugs and alcohol in his system at the time of his death.

TMZ reports that Bennington’s autopsy and toxicology results show the singer had a small amount of alcohol and MDMA (ecstasy) in his system when he was found dead in his California home in July this year.

Authorities also found a prescription bottle of the sedative Zolpidem on his dresser, although it appears the drug isn’t mentioned in the toxicology results.

Bennington’s death was ruled a suicide by hanging in the weeks following his death. There was no suicide note, but police reportedly found what they called an “apparent biography”, which was handwritten.

Bennington’s wife Talinda also reportedly told police that her husband had a history of depression and suicide attempts.

Linkin Park are preparing to release a new live album called One More Light Live on 15th December, which will feature some of Bennington’s final live performances.
