Football Superstar Ronaldinho Is Retiring To Focus On His Music Career

One of the world’s greatest living footballers Ronaldinho has announced plans to retire from The Beautiful Game in 2018 to focus on a career in music.

Though the legendary Brazilian playmaker hasn’t played pro-football since exiting Fluminense FC back in 2015, he’s signalled that next year could be the year he hangs up his boots for good, and picks up a microphone full-time.

“There is this chance, I think I’m saying goodbye to football next year, officially,” Ronaldinho tells Yahoo Sports. “I might play some farewell games for the teams I’ve played for, it’s something we’ll have to think about sometime soon.

“Once I’m retiring from football, then I’m moving forward on my musical projects, my football schools. It’s something new for me, I’ll have to adapt,” he adds.

The iconic trickster, famous for his flashy elastico, rabona and other freestyle manoeuvres (but also for, you know, being the best player in the world at one point), officially launched his solo music career earlier this year with the release of his debut single ‘Sozinho’.

The song — which, in English means ‘Alone’ — sees the World Cup, Ballon d’Or and Champions League winner croon over a laid-back samba groove.
