There’s A New Hottest 100-Style Radio Countdown Just For Heavy Music

Australia’s newest radio station zoning in on metal and other heavy genres, The Faction, has announced its own Hottest 100-style countdown.

‘The Hardest 100’ is giving listeners the chance to vote for the best heavy songs of all time, after triple j caused some controversy with a notable lack of heavy music in its recent Hottest 100 of 2017.

Speaking about The Hardest 100, The Faction founder Tim Price says, “This is an epic opportunity for everyone who is into heavy music to get involved and show that there’s a strong voice for our scene.

“Vote for the best heavy songs of all time, vote for Australian heavy songs, vote for the most obscure black metal band you can think of – if it’s good, vote for it – who knows what might end up in the countdown.”

From right now, you can vote for your choices online, with the countdown set to go down live on The Faction on Saturday, 17th March.

The streaming radio station launched last year, and streams heavy music ’round the clock on their website and app.

The Hardest 100 is one of a number of Hottest 100-style countdowns which have been launched in recent time. Triple M swooped in once triple j moved its countdown away from Australia Day, to throw The Ozzest 100, which featured a lot of AC/DC.

Senator Cory Bernardi also launched his controversial Australian Conservatives 100, which was met with disgust from more than a few artists including Bernard Fanning and Jimmy Barnes.
