Smashing Pumpkins Tease Something Called ‘Shiny And Oh So Bright’

UPDATE: The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Long-Rumoured Reunion Tour

ORIGINAL STORY: It looks like The Smashing Pumpkins are potentially teasing the title of their long-rumoured reunion album (or something relating to their return) on social media.

The band will make what’s expected to be an official album and tour announcement at 4am AEDT this Friday, 16th February, but they’ve just added fuel to the hype fire by revealing a series of words on Instagram.

They’ve posted numerous images which when joined together spell out the words ‘Shiny And Oh So Bright’, and fans are speculating this could be anything from an album title to the name of a tour.

It’s expected that frontman Billy Corgan will be reuniting with original Pumpkins members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin for new music and a tour. Former bassist D’Arcy Wretzky will not be involved, despite allegedly being given a contract about rejoining the band by Corgan, which was allegedly later withdrawn. Smashing Pumpkins have denied this.

Yesterday, Wretzky criticised Corgan in her first media interview in 20 years, after sharing text messages (below) which Corgan allegedly sent to her about the band’s upcoming reunion.

The band have been in the studio with legendary producer Rick Rubin. Just a week ago a photoshoot leaked featuring Corgan alongside Iha, Chamberlin and longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder, all but confirming the Pumpkins are ready to roll again.

The last Smashing Pumpkins album to feature Corgan, Iha and Chamberlin was 2000’s Machina/The Machines of God.
