Parkway Drive Channel Avenged Sevenfold On Anthemic New Single ‘Prey’ & Of Course The Purists Are Pissy

Parkway Drive are continuing to divide the internet after letting rip another monstrously catchy new single dubbed ‘Prey’.

Much like their previously released new album cut ‘The Void’, this new metal banger combines melodic 80’s-inspired riffage with a gigantic, fist-pumping, singalong chorus.

But whereas the former single was more Metallica-esque thrash, the triplet-chugging guitarmony-powered theatrics of ‘Prey’ are more reminiscent of Iron Maiden or Avenged Sevenfold.

But naturally, because it doesn’t sound like Horizons or Deep Blue, the purists are sh*tted off:

But it should also be pointed out that just as many — if not more — fans are also vibing the hell out of the Byron Bay metalcore crew’s new crusher, and vocally defending them against the haters:

Reverence is Parkway’s sixth studio album, and the follow-up to 2015’s IRE.

Frontman Winston McCall has called the LP, which was produced by the band’s longtime sound engineer George Hadjichristou, their “most honest and personal record” to date.

“It has been born though pain, sacrifice, and conviction, with the ultimate goal of expanding not only what Parkway Drive stand for musically, but who we are as people,” he said. “Thank you for listening.”

Reverence is due out on Friday, 4th May.
