Brisbane Band The Gifthorse Announce Tribute Show For Late Frontman Shane Collins

Brisbane band The Gifthorse have announced a fundraiser and tribute show in honour of their late frontman Shane Collins, who died earlier this year after living with depression.

The show, titled ‘Passed The Break: A Tribute To Everyone’s Mate’, will take place at Melbourne’s Reverence Hotel in June, with sets from the likes of Luca Brasi, A Death In The Family, Pagan and, of course, The Gifthorse.

In a statement, the band say the show will be a chance for them to “say goodbye”, following their frontman’s passing.

“Saying goodbye is a hard thing to do. Sadly for the Gifthorse our time is up. We have to say goodbye now,” they say.

“We made a decision a few weeks ago to do it on our terms. With our songs, some beer and some friends. So to Shane Collins, our dear brother. We raise a beer to you mate. This is for you.”

The Gifthorse say the show will be “raising money for the fight against depression”, and will see some of their mates step into Collins’ place to sing with the band.
