Report: Posthumous Avicii Album To Be Released This Year

An album of unreleased Avicii music will reportedly arrive this year.

According to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, the super-producer’s family is planning to continue his musical legacy by releasing an LP of never-before-heard tunes recorded by Avicii prior to his tragic death last month.

Though he officially retired from touring and performing back in 2016, Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) remained hard at work in the studio, reportedly polishing off nearly 200 fresh songs and planning to drop a follow-up EP for his Avīci series, the fourth and final of which was released back in 2017.

And as Aftonbladet reports, the Bergling family has “met with record company representatives and partners” and “agreed that an album will be released by the end of the year”.

Avicii’s family have also announced plans for his funeral, confirming that it will be a private affair for his nearest and dearest only.

“The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim,” their statement reads. “They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”

Avicii died in Muscat, Oman, last month at the age of 28. His cause of death was reportedly suicide.
