Sydney’s Newtown Festival Announces 40th Anniversary Event

UPDATE: Newtown Festival 2018 Music Lineup Announced

ORIGINAL STORY: Sydney’s iconic Newtown Festival is returning for its 40th anniversary in 2018, and the date it’s all happening has just been locked in.

This year’s festival is going down on Sunday, 11th November, and take place in Newtown’s Camperdown Memorial Rest Park from 9:30am, to 5:30pm.

This is an important year for Newtown Festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Serving as a primary fundraiser for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, the festival has been using the funds it raises to help those who need it most in Sydney’s inner west.

The centre’s CEO, Liz Yeo, explained in a statement how the festival has earned its longevity.

“While the Festival has grown and changed significantly over those 40 years, it has remained true to its core purpose – to be a Festival that inspires and supports social change,” she said.

No lineup has been announced just yet, but you can expect it in the near future. Last year’s lineup was curated by Sarah Blasko, and featured the likes of Spit Syndicate and I Know Leopard.
