Morrissey Compares Norway Massacre to Deeds of Fast Food Chains

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has caused a storm of protest after comparing the Norwegian Massacre where 76 people died to the slaughter of animals for fast food chains.

The 52 year-old vegan and animal rights activist was on tour in the polish capital, Warsaw, when he made this comment:

“We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97[sic] dead”, Morrissey said. “Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Shit every day.”

His comment was not well received, even from his own fans. One person wrote on his website:

“The killing of children compared to KFC & McDonald’s?!!! What an arsehole!

A few other people tweeted:

“I really don’t know if that is forgivable? Or of any use to the vegetarian cause?”

“I’ve been veggy for 22 years. Today Morrissey’s made me want to start eating meat.”

“Jesus Christ, Morrissey, you utter, utter bell-end”.

Even with the reponse from observers, Morrissey stands by his comments. His spokesman said today “Morrissey has decided not to comment any further as he believes his statement speaks for itself.”

In other Morrissey news (that doesn’t involve him being cross with someone or something), The Smiths will release a box set with re-mastered albums, bonus material and possibly everything the Manchester band ever did.
