Toto’s Very 80’s Cover Of Weezer’s Classic ‘Hash Pipe’ Is Finally Here

Toto have finally blessed the rains down on the internet with their official cover of Weezer‘s ‘Hash Pipe’.

ICYMI: in an unexpected musical odd-coupling, Toto and Weezer decided to cover each other’s songs in a show of mutual admiration.

It all started when the Rivers Cuomo-fronted band delivered their rendition of the Toto mega-hit ‘Africa’, much to the internet’s delight, following a viral fan campaign.

Toto then returned serve, announcing plans to settle the score with their own cover of Weezer’s 2001 hit.

And, after busting it out live, the band’s official recording of ‘Hash Pipe’ is finally here. And it sounds very 80’s.

As Toto drummer Steve Porcaro tells Billboard, the band chose ‘Hash Pipe’ to show off their rock chops.

“You know, we listened to ‘Beverly Hills,’” he says. “I wanted to maybe even do a real ‘Africa’-type version of that. … But you know what? We wanted to make it different, but we wanted to do something rock ‘n’ roll. I wanted to show everyone what a good rock ‘n’ roll band we can be.”

See if you can handle the whole thing below.

In related news, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather recently told Music Feeds that they were trying to plan an Australian tour for 2019. Let’s hope this cover makes it on the setlist.
