Watch Sum 41 Cover A Linkin Park Classic Live With Mike Shinoda

The worlds of noughties pop-punk and noughties nu-metal have collided onstage at the UK’s Reading Festival with Sum 41 amplifying their set with a cover of Linkin Park‘s iconic tune ‘Faint’.

But they didn’t do it alone.

The band were joined for their rendition of the Meteora belter by noneother than Mr. Mike Shinoda himself, who crashed the massive stage to deliver some additional guitar lines and, of course, rap his trademark verses.

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley took over the melodic chorus parts traditionally performed by the late Chester Bennington, and as the performance came to a close, Whibley raised his hand to the sky and shouted “Chester, we miss you!”

And FYI Deryck actually did an amazing job at singing Chester’s parts, like, creepily amazing.

“Never thought I’d see ‘Faint’ ever performed live after Chester’s death,” one fan frothed on Twitter following the performance. “Then Sum 41 bring out Mike Shinoda and fulfill a dream of mine. What a show.”

“Best day of my life,” another added. “Saw Mike Shinoda then Sum 41 brought him back on to collab a Linkin Park song!”
