Gang Of Youths To Perform At 2018 NRL Grand Final

Sydney rockers Gang Of Youths have been confirmed as the pre-game entertainment for the 2018 NRL Grand Final.

Gang Of Youths will perform before kick off on Sunday, 30th September at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, therefore joining Cold Chisel and Wolfmother as NRL pre-game alumni.

The band have had a massive year — announcing and selling out show after show for their upcoming national tour, annihilating a bunch of festivals and launching their very own festival in Brisbane.

Now, they’re hitting up the NRL Grand Final, following a decision from league organisers that’s much less controversial than last year’s.

2017’s divisive Grand Final entertainment featured American singer-songwriter Macklemore, who some deemed an “un-Australian” choice or complained about his singing of marriage equality anthem ‘Same Love’.

In a statement, NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said, “After the success of last year’s entertainment, we wanted to go back a slightly different genre – just a great Aussie rock show from one of the best young bands in the business.”

Meanwhile, Gang Of Youths frontman Dave Le’aupepe said he’s proud to be performing and hopes to see his team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, make it to the Grand Final.

“I’m a Souths fan and Samoan. I can’t guarantee that the Rabbitohs will be there, but this will be a very proud moment for me and my family.”

Gang Of Youths’ ‘Say Yes To Life’ national tour kicks off next month.
