Australian Musician Roy Molloy Rescues Drowning Boy In The US

A little known Aussie musician is making big headlines after pulling off a heroic rescue in the US.

Roy Molloy, who plays saxophone for fellow Aussie muso & Seekae member Alex Cameron, dived into stormy waters at New York’s Rockaway Beach to drag a “heavy set boy” to safety.

“Jumped in off the rocks and got to him before he drowned,” Cameron tweeted about his bandmate and business partner. “Didn’t think twice. The guy is a full time operator.”

Speaking to a local CBS News crew, Molloy described hearing the child’s parents screaming for help, before jumping into the rough ocean, which had been ravaged by strong rip currents due to Hurricane Florence.

“He was floundering, drowning,” Molloy said. “I don’t think he’d have been able to get himself in. No way.”

The pro horn-blower later took to Twitter, urging people to “Please stay in the patrolled areas at the beach if you’re not a strong swimmer”.

He also retweeted another mate who posted, “That’s our lil bondi nipper.”

Bloody legend.
