Dave Grohl Is Auctioning Off Signed Music Gear For Charity

Good Guy Grohl has struck again.

The nicest guy in rock has announced plans to auction off some top line musical instruments to raise money to support the new generation of future rockstars.

Guitars, drums, and more signed by the head Foo Fighter are set to go under the hammer on Tuesday, October 9th on Reverb.com, as part Grohl’s unprecedented and immersive project PLAY, which saw him release an insane 23-minute solo track which he recorded all the instruments on, alongside a mini-documentary celebrating “the rewards and challenges of dedicating one’s life to playing music”.

In conjunction with the project, recording studios around the US donated session time to young musos, and now Dave is hoping to create more opportunities for the talented kiddies by raising money to support music education via this new charity auction.

“When I take my kids to their music lessons, I see these rooms full of children that are really pushing themselves to figure this out. I’m inspired by watching that process,” he says.

“Even now, as a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out. It’s not something that you ever truly master. You’re always chasing the next challenge, and you’re always trying to find a way to improve what you’ve learned.

“Seeing my own kids start to play music and take lessons brings me back to the time when I was their age, chipping away at it and learning from my mistakes. It’s a lifelong obsession, but at the end of the day—just like any kid—the reward is just to play.”

The gear up for grabs has been donated by huge brands like DW Drums, Fender, Gibson Gretsch, Ludwig, Made By Maple and Zildjian, and has all been signed by the rock legend.

You can check it all out right here once the auction goes live.
