Oxford Arts Factory: The Twelves Visit OAF on There First Australian Tour

The Twelves, famed Brazilian masters of the remix, purveyors of nu-disco and wunderkind of the blog scene are touring Australia for the first time ever – with a Sydney show on May 9 at the Oxford Art Factory. Support comes from luminaries of the live dance scene in Australia – Miami Horror and Theatre of Disco, as well as indie pop heartthrobs Former Child Stars and OAF resident DJ Harry Cotton.

The Twelves have carved a niche for themselves in the international dance community with an impressive list of remixes – including their breakthrough and highly danceable edit of “Boyz” from M.I.A.’s sophomore album, as well as re-workings of New Young Pony Club, Kylie, Yelle and Black Kids – as well as our own Theatre of Disco.

In an international dance music landscape dominated by pounding kick drums and heavy bass lines, The Twelves are a breath of fresh air, heavily referencing the diverse sounds of 70s disco and 80s synth pop as well as their dance music contemporaries, across tracks which are warm and eminently danceable. Their live show is a unique blend of keyboards, drum machines, mash-ups and remixing on the fly – with a strong emphasis on improvisation to build a unique set every time they play.

Don’t miss the first round of Australian shows from these Brazilian bombshells. Tickets are on sale now through http://www.moshtix.com.au.
