Art vs Science Play The Music Of Icehouse For The JD Set 2011

Following on from last year’s event, which saw the likes of Megan Washington, You Am I, Nic Cester and Tex Perkins join forces to reinterpret the classic Rolling Stones album Exile On Main Street, The JD Set have just announced that this year’s event will be crowned by Art vs Science playing tribute to the music of Icehouse, touching on their hits such as Great Southern Land, Crazy and Electric Blue. The dance pop outfit won’t be alone though, playing with help from some of the country’s leading musical talent, including golden voiced songstress Kate Miller-Heidke, The Grates‘ incendiary frontwoman Patience Hodgson and experimental pop band Dapples CitiesTim Derricourt.

Speaking of the show, Jack Daniels Brand Manager Natalie Accari commented that “Jack Daniel’s has always supported great music and great craft generally, as well as being the focus of many legendary parties, so we’ll be celebrating Mr. Jack’s 161st this ‘Jacktember’ in fine style with a unique collaboration of artists and plenty of friends!”

Set to kick off in Melbourne at Trak on Wednesday the 14th of September and going on to visit the new Upstairs Beresford on Thursday September 15th the shows are being touted as some of the most anticipated of the year by various local media sources. “We want the talent onstage to be truly inspired by coming together to pay homage to a classic artist, so that music fans get a real sense of something special taking place with these performances and everything that goes into them,” Accari says, “then hopefully they’ll go away feeling inspired themselves.”

The Purple Sneakers DJs are also jumping on board for the ride, getting everyone in the mood before the show gets started. You can join and follow the JD set at their facebook page to get the latest news and behind-the-scenes access as the shows and collaboration progresses. Also, you can slide yourself into the running for some extra birthday ‘sur-prizes’ courtesy of Jack throughout September, including tickets to the shows.
