Royal Treatment Plant Release Debut Album

UK outfit Royal Treatment Plant will release their internationally acclaimed debut album Hope Is Not Enough in Australia on May 8, through Blacklight Music / Universal Music Australia.

Hope Is Not Enough was described as “a joyous and exuberantly tinny bit of speed punk … 8/10” (NME), and “[this is] Royal Treatment Plant at their infectious, vitriolic, poppy punk best” (Organ). The album also earned ‘Album of the Week’ status on Huw Stephen’s (BBC Radio 1) radio show, and was nominated for ‘Debut Album of the Year’ from influential UK indie station XFM, alongside Lightspeed Champion and The Ting Tings.

Led by Australian-born Paula Steele (known as PP to her band mates), Royal Treatment Plant has garnered attention across the UK and Europe with whirlwind speed. After recording Hope Is Not Enough in 2008 with Ted Miller (Placebo, Blur), the album was released in the UK and Europe late last year to rave reviews.

First single ‘Undercurrent’ was recorded with legendary producer Mike Chapman (Blondie), who was so taken with the DIY demo of the song played on US station KRQQ, that he approached the band via Myspace and asked to mix the track. The result is three and a half minutes of pure, unadulterated pop-rock perfection. ‘Undercurrent’ earned a ‘Single of the Week’ feature on Steve Lamacq’s (BBC 6 Music) radio show, plus a raft of plays on XFM (UK), BBC Radio 1 (UK), and KRQQ (USA).

Second single ‘Half As Much’ is a punchy, exciting slice of indie dance rock, and was named NME Radio’s single of the week. It’s available digitally from May 1 from all major digital download stores.

With nods of approval from musical peers including The Automatic and a burgeoning wave of critical acclaim from the UK’s most disconcerting press, Royal Treatment Plant have been winning fans in recent months with their blistering live performances and leading lady’s inescapable presence.

And now it’s Australia’s turn to experience Royal Treatment Plant. Hope is Not Enough will be released on May 8 on Blacklight Music / Universal Music Australia.
