Big Day Out 2012 Line-up: No Pearl Jam, No Radiohead

Although a number of media outlets (including us) have reported that the Big Day Out 2012 line-up would include Pearl Jam and/or Radiohead, it seems that will not be the case.

Last night the Big Day Out posted a message via their Facebook page stating that no headliners would begin with an R, which was then followed with another message this afternoon that read:

I am feeling kind so here is another hint (I told you yesterday no headliner starts with an R): No headliner starts with a P! OK one sleep ’til we meet right here and start the 1st announce party …

This morning Herald Sun music reporter Nui Te Koha tipped Radiohead to headline after speaking to Triple M breakfast:

Pearl Jam have changed their mind and the BDO has thrown a lot of money at another act … and it looks like Radiohead, which is a fair replacement.

While another source that has been floating around in the past 24 hours was a leaked press release stating Pearl Jam would headline along with System of A Down, The Killers, Kasabian, Soulwax/2manydjs, Florence and The Machine, The Living End, My Chemical Romance and even stated Sum 41 would return to feature on the line-up.

The most outspoken source for leaks in the past few weeks, the @BigDayOutSpy has always pushed Radiohead as the headliner, but never backed Pearl Jam.

But despite all the leaks, it seems Big Day Out have done a great job of throwing everyone off, and it’s now likely neither Pearl Jam or Radiohead will appear on the line-up (as headliners anyway). There seems to be a strong sense of celebration in the 20-year history of the festival, and we hope the true line-up reflects that.

Big Day Out will officially announce 17 bands tomorrow night (Thursday) at 8pm and 3 headliners the following morning.
