Powderfinger Set To Announce Shows?

It seems that just 2 years after ending the band, Powderfinger might be getting back together for one last show?

Earlier today, radio station Triple M published an article titled ‘Powderfingers Last Hurrah’ only to take the post down seconds later. Although we didn’t get to read the full post we do know the intro read:

Just when you thought your favourite Aussie band were done and dusted …

The Powderfiner facebook page also posted an update referring to a surprize :

Good afternoon … we have a surprise for you on Friday morning! Keep an eye on here around 9am EST

What the full details are we may not know until Friday morning, but the wording in the Triple M article suggests the band will play again. Could they return for the 20th Anniversary Big Day Out 2012 tour? They have a long history with the festival.

Other possibilities are that they will announce more details about Footprints, the official authorised biography of the band along with a box set. A description has been uploaded to Hachette with details stating:

The inside story of Australia’s best loved band. For the first time, Bernard, Darren, Ian, John and Jonathan look back and tell their whole story from childhood to their final farewell.

Written with journalist Dino Scatena, the up-until-now very private members of the band have opened up to detail the full history of Powderfinger. From their early days at the Orient Hotel to packed stadiums around the country and multiple Aria awards, this illustrated edition will feature the never-before-seen photos of the local Brissie boys who became Aussie rock icons.

Details of the book were revealed in June, but it looks like they could release a hard copy version with a greatest hits collection, as well as a limited edition photos and lanyard.

Either way, it would be great to see the band play together again no matter what setting it is …
