Liam Gallagher has hinted in an interview with Rolling Stone that he would be open to an Oasis reunion for a 20th anniversary of their second studio album What’s the Story Morning Glory, if he and his brother Noel can put their differences aside.
2015 will be the year to honour the band’s most successful album from the Brit-pop era. Liam believes that “if we [him and Noel] can put our shit aside, we can tour and play the album in its entirety for the 20th anniversary. I’d be up for that, if it’s on our terms. There’s got to be two-way respect.”
Liam, who is currently playing with his new band Beady Eye, had said back in March that he would never say never to a reunion, but felt that at this point in time their was “no fucking chance” but if it did “It wouldn’t be for money, mate … It would be for the people and the music and not for fucking money.”
Noel on the other hand has been talking as if it was all dead and buried, saying recently that although he would have liked an anniversary, it’s “a shame that songs like Champagne Supernova, Rock And Roll Star, The Importance Of Being Idle, and The Shock Of The Lightning will never be played again in a stadium.”
Only time will tell if it’s likely to happen, but with Beady Eye not hitting the heights that Oasis once did, and Noel admittedly saying he’s not a comfortable frontman, it’s pretty clear that the two will come to some form of reconciliation and honour the album with the respect it’s due.
