Watch The Official Trailer For Brian Wilson Doco ‘Long Promised Road’

The official trailer for the upcoming Brian Wilson documentary, Long Promised Road, is here.

Produced by Screen Media Films and Ley Line Entertainment, Long Promised Road is an intimate look at Wilson’s long and legendary career. The Beach Boys‘ creative visionary is famously media averse, but Long Promised Road captures him in a relaxed mode as he spends time with Rolling Stone editor and longtime friend, Jason Fine.

The film also includes interviews and testimonies from contemporaries and admirers such as Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Don Was, Nick Jonas, Linda Perry, Jakob Dylan and the Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.

“Brian just threw away the rule book,” says Elton John. “[He] just took you out of where you were and took you to another place.” “There’s no greater world created in rock and roll than the Beach Boys,” says Springsteen. “The level of musicianship, I don’t think anybody’s touched it yet.”

Wilson co-founded The Beach Boys with his brothers Carl and Dennis Wilson and their cousin, Mike Love, in Los Angeles, 1961. Brian was the primary creative force behind the group’s paradigm-shifting album, Pet Sounds, released in 1966. The follow-up albums, Smiley Smile and Wild Honey, are also considered canonical rock and pop releases.

Wilson has created a number of solo albums, including 2004’s Smile, which was an attempt to fully execute the original vision he had for The Beach Boys’ Smiley Smile. Wilson’s musical ingenuity and mental health struggles form the basis of the 2014 biopic, Love & Mercy, starring Paul Dano and John Cusack, as the young and middle-aged Wilson respectively.

The 90-minute Long Promised Road will be screening in select cinemas from Wednesday, 17th November and on demand from Friday, 19th November. Watch the trailer below and visit brianwilsonlongpromisedroad.com for more info.
