Slipknot Forced To Pause Concert After Fans Start Bonfire In The Pit

Slipknot were forced to take an unplanned intermission during their recent headline show in Phoenix, Arizona after a bonfire broke out at Ak-Chin Pavilion, reportedly started by fans themselves.

Fan-shot footage from the gig shows the flames on the lawn of the outdoor venue, which apparently began shortly after the audience sang happy birthday to guitarist Mick Thomson. According to Exclaim, fans set a large pile of lawn chairs and assorted trash on fire, then formed a circle pit around the flames.

As such, the band were forced to pause proceedings for around half an hour while the local fire department came and put out the blaze. Luckily, no injuries were sustained, but the interruption did mean Slipknot were forced to cut some live favourites from the setlist, including ‘Duality’ and ‘Spit It Out’. The band have not commented on the incident.

The AZ show marked the final stop in Slipknot’s Knotfest Roadshow concert series, where they were joined by Killswitch Engage, Code Orange and Fever 333. Those bands will join Slipknot, along with Bring Me the Horizon and Vended, for the Knotfest Los Angeles festival this weekend, which will be available to watch as a livestream – details on that here.
