BROODS Share New Single, Announce New Album And Australian Tour

Aotearoa sibling-duo, BROODS, will release their fourth album, Space Island, in February 2022.

To celebrate, Georgia and Caleb Nott will return for a tour of Australia in March next year. They’ve also shared the album’s second single, ‘Heartbreak’, which was informed by vocalist Georgia Nott’s separation from her husband.

“We wrote this from a place of determination,” Georgia said in a statement. “Determined to learn from the loss of my marriage and keep my heart open in its most tender state. When I say, ‘Let your heart break’, I’m whispering to myself to stay present with the grief and transmute it into empathy.”

The album’s first single, ‘Piece of My Mind’, came out in September. Like the earlier single, ‘Heartbreak’ comes with a music video that carries forward the Space Island vibes. Subtitled “Space Island Chapter 2″, the animated video was directed by Dr D Foothead.

“In the second chapter we step away from denial and into the darker corners of our ‘Heartbreak’, where the things that hurt the most become a guide back to ourselves,” said Georgia. “They become the teachers that help us empathise with ourselves, and through that, connects us to a deeper kindness for others. To let your heart break is not just a fearless and freeing thing to do, but a selfless act of love as well.”

Space Island is out on Friday, 18th February 2022. BROODS will touch down in Perth on Friday, 4th March for the Factory Summer festival. They’ll return for shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane later in the month.
