Karnivool Drop Their First New Music In Eight Years With Surprise Track ‘All It Takes’

Aussie metal and prog fans have received an early Xmas present this morning, with Perth legends Karnivool abruptly breaking eight years of silence with the new single ‘All It Takes’.

The metal outfit that originally introduced enigmatic frontman Ian Kenney to the world (more widely known for his role heading up footy grand final house band Birds of Tokyo) the band has long been something of a cult favourite, but have remained frustratingly inactive on the new music front since 2013’s challenging (but brilliant) Asymmetry.

Now though, in the wake of several anniversary tours and the occasional festival show, the ‘Vool seem to be firing up the creative cylinders again, with a groovy and sinister new tune that combines Kenney’s trademark soaring vocals with some almighty slabs of 90’s metal and infectiously catchy bass riffage. Check it out below.

“All It Takes” is the first part of a larger project they continue to wrestle into existence,” reads a statement from the band’s PR, wryly noting that for Karnivool, “doing what the f*ck they want, when they want and how they want may be the reason why their intermittent output has assembled an enormous worldwide congregation whose collective Christmas arrived real early this year.”

The statement continues; “content without content, unsocial, mining their own seam, the sound remains the factor that holds it together for this band of perfectionists, and “All It Takes” is a welcome nugget in their existing creative gold mine. Dig in.”
