Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Shares First Taste Of Band’s New Album

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine has offered a taste of the band’s 16th studio LP, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!, which is due in the first half of 2022.

The song snippet surfaced via a Cameo message Mustaine sent to a fan named Gabe. “Hey Gabe. It’s Dave Mustaine from Megadeth and I got a message that Octavia would love for me to wish you a Merry Christmas and play you something special,” said Mustaine.

Instead of shredding live for the camera, Mustaine identified this as a marketing opportunity. “How would you like to hear a little bit of the new album?” he said. “This is song two from side one. It’s called ‘Life In Hell’.”

He played 15 seconds of the song’s intro before pressing pause. “I think that makes you the first person in the outside world, outside of the studio and the band and my family, that has heard any music from the new record,” said Mustaine. Take a listen in the clip below.

Earlier this year, Megadeth parted ways with founding bass player David Ellefson after a video was leaked of a sexually explicit online interaction between Ellefson and a young woman.

The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! has been a work in progress for a while now, with Mustaine telling fans in April that the album was nearly done. The band’s previous LP, Dystopia, came out in 2016.
