Here’s The Winner Of Triple J’s Hottest 100 Of 2021

WOAH! Australian sweethearts The Wiggles have officially taken out the 2021 triple j Hottest 100 with their Like A Version cover of Tame Impala‘s Elephant!

It’s a record breaking achievement, with their win marking the first time in history a LAV has taken the coveted top spot. It’s also the first time The Wiggles have ever featured in a Hottest 100 countdown. One from one is a pretty damn good debut.

100 Warm Tunas predicted the win a couple of weeks back, which is another stroke to the tally for creator Nicholas Whyte who correctly predicted Glass Animals‘ win last year too.

Coming in HOT at #2 was The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber with Stay – arguably one of the world’s biggest tracks. The track topped the Billboard charts, marking LAROI‘s first number one, and Bieber‘s eighth.

This year’s countdown well and truly featured something for everyone, with tons of surprises packed in for good measure.

Rounding out your top five was Spacey Jane with Lots Of NothingOlivia Rodrigo‘s good 4 u and Billie Eilish‘s Happier Than Ever in at #3, #4 and #5 respectively

#6-#10 was all killer no filler, with sounds from Gang Of YouthsDoja CatRÜFÜS DU SOL and Lil Nas X (who had two tracks in the top ten) kicking off the nail-biter of a top ten countdown.

Of your top ten, your 2020 #2 & now 2021 #3, Spacey Jane cracked the 100 three times with their LAV and two singles. Gang Of Youths had two tracks feature throughout the countdown from their surprise EP in the wake of your leave, while Doja Cat clocked four entries taken from her debut album Planet Her.

RÜFÜS DU SOL came in hot with three entries from their smash record Surrender, and Lil Nas X appeared three times with songs from his debut album MONTERO.

Olivia Rodrigo absolutely dominated with a whopping FIVE songs in the countdown, all taken from her smash debut album SOUR. Those were good 4 u at #4, drivers license at #13, deja vu at #33, brutal at #60 and traitor at #67.

100 Warm Tunas top ten prediction was both accurate and a little wayward this year, with a number of outliers entering the top ten countdown, including two Lil Nas X tracks and notable omissions from Ball Park Music and Amyl And The Sniffers. He correctly predicted Olivia Rodrigo’s good 4 u to clock in at #4,

After taking out the Hottest 100 in 2020, Glass Animals returned to the countdown with their track I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance) coming in hot at #23.

Four songs from Kanye West‘s album DONDA featured throughout, with Hurricane at #44, Jail at #50, Praise God at #82 and Moon at #97.

Billie Eilish, your 2019 Hottest 100 winner, appeared in her fourth consecutive countdown, with the impactful title track from her second album Happier Than Ever coming in at #5.

Lorde, Lime Cordiale & Idris Elba, The Jungle Giants, King Stingray are among the artists who clocked more than one track in the countdown.

Four Like A Versions featured this year, up from last year’s count of two. Those were from The Wiggles, Spacey Jane, Ocean Alley and Tame Impala.

Your 2018 winners Ocean Alley clocked two entries in the countdown, with Touch Back Down at #20 and Breathe/Comfortably Numb/Money [Like A Version] at #54.

The 29th annual triple j Hottest 100 has been one for the history books, with the youth radio broadcaster raising over $1.1 million for Lifeline.
