Denzel Curry Channels Old School Hip-Hop On New Single ‘Walkin’

A new era of Denzel Curry has arrived, heralded by ‘Walkin’, his brand new single and the first cut from his forthcoming album Melt My Eyez See Your Future.

The Kal Banx-produced track starts off with a dose of old school boom-bap before switching gears, as Curry’s flow builds in intensity and lyrical fire.

“I like traditional hip hop, I like drum & bass, I like trap, I like poetry,” the rapper says, discussing the creative direction of his forthcoming record.

“So a lot of that is going to be interwoven in this album including jazz and a lot of genres that I came up on as a kid and just being in my parents’ house.

“This album is made up of everything that I couldn’t give you on TA13OO or Imperial because I was going through depression anger issues.”

The forthcoming record will apparently also include some big ticket collabs from the likes of T-Pain, 6lack, Rico Nasty, JID, Slowthai, Thundercat, Robert Glasper, and JPEGMAFIA.

For now though, ‘Walkin’ also comes packing a cinematic sci-fi western style music video directed by Adrian Villagomez, which you can check out below.
