Rapper Huskii Releases Debut Album ‘Antihero’

Wollongong born, Sydney-based MC Huskii is out of jail and back with the new album, Antihero. It’s out now via Island Records.

Although it contains just seven-songs and 19 and a half minutes of music, Antihero is described as the debut album from the rapper born Ben Hayden. It follows Huskii’s previous EPs, Recalled (2020), Brainumb (2017) and Barely Awake & Paranoid (2016).

Huskii worked with his friend and associate Chillinit on the 2019 EP, 4 Days, which gave rise to the singles ‘Marijuana & Bussdowns’ and ‘Same Story, Different Beat’. He guested on multiple tracks on Chillinit’s 2021 LP, Family Ties.

Antihero features guest appearances from UK rapper Grubbo (on ‘Pulp Fiction’) and Mic Pompeii, Ides and Shadow (on ‘Cape Fear Big Wave Contest). Sydney producer Caleb Tasker (Tuka, Danté Knows) produced the majority of tracks.

The recent single ‘Heroin Rap’ gets things started, introducing listeners to the dark-tinged boom bap production style that characterises the EP.

“’Heroin Rap’ is critical to Antihero and my story,” Huskii said in a statement. “It represents people and parts of my past, family included, who made me into the person I am and the reason for trying to grow into a better one. This is a dirty, emotional and raw track, it’s not a feel good song but it’s an important one and part of Huskii nonetheless.”
