Troye Sivan Teams Up With Jay Som On New Single ‘Trouble’

26-year-old Australian pop singer Troye Sivan has released the new single, ‘Trouble’, a collaboration with Los Angeles indie rocker and producer Jay Som.

‘Trouble’ is one of two tracks that Sivan supplied to the soundtrack for the upcoming film, Three Months. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Three Months stars Sivan as the character Caleb, who waits three months for HIV test results after learning he was exposed to the virus

Three Months is described as “a coming-of-age comedy-drama movie.” It’s coming out through the Paramount+ streaming service on Wednesday, 23rd February.

Sivan and Jay Som’s Melina Duterte wrote ‘Trouble’ with Brett McLaughlin (aka Leland) and Kaelyn Behr. Behr produced the track under his Styalz Fuego alias; Fuego has worked on recent releases by Imagine Dragons, Julia Stone and CIX.

Sivan shared a statement along with the release of ‘Trouble’, saying, “Revisited my full 17 year old 2011 tumblr-core mindset to write this song for Three Months.” He also called Jay Som “one of my faves”.

In addition to producing three LPs under the Jay Som name, Duterte is one half of the band, Bachelor, alongside Palehound’s Ellen Kempner. Bachelor released their debut album, Doomin’ Sun, in 2021.

‘Trouble’ follows ‘Angel Baby’, Sivan’s single from late 2021. His most recent album, Bloom, came out in 2018.
