PREMIERE: Kirrah Amosa Exudes Confidence On R&B Cut ‘Possessive’

Canberra artist Kirrah Amosa is releasing her new single ‘Possessive’ this Wednesday, 2nd March. We’re premiering the slinky R&B track today on Music Feeds.

‘Possessive’ is Amosa’s first solo single of the year. In February, Amosa teamed up with Erik Solo’s Moombahteam on the single ‘Banana’. Compared the spirited moombahton grooves of ‘Banana’, ‘Possessive’ is a more laidback cut.

Amosa worked on ‘Possessive’ with Canberra producer Kojo Ansah (aka Citizen Kay). The production and vocal delivery recall late ’90s and early ’00s pop-R&B greats like Destiny’s Child and Aaliyah. Kirrah Amosa’s contemporary analogues include SZA and Kehlani.

The release of ‘Possessive’ marks a significant step forward for Amosa, both privately and professionally. “2020-2021 bestowed on me the best of the worst; crushed my dreams, dissolved years of hard work, ended my relationship, introduced me to my new bestie, anxiety, and helped me understand that the niggling feeling in the back of my head wasn’t motivation to be healthier – it was body dysmorphia,” Amosa said in a statement.

On ‘Possessive’, she attempts to make peace with the darkness within. “Accepting this darker side of me was nothing short of absolute liberation, so if you’re anything like me, I offer you this,” Amosa said.

Amosa produced a music video for ‘Possessive’, which was filmed at her grandparents’ home. Amosa co-directed the video with filmographer Isack Hoppitt. Watch it below.
