Kanye West Pulls Out Of Coachella Headline Appearance

Kanye West (who is now legally known as Ye) will no longer headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicks off next Friday, 15th April. Ye was due to headline Coachella on Sunday, 17th and Sunday, 24th April, but Variety confirms he’s pulled out of the event.

Ye first threatened to cancel his Coachella appearance back in February after the festival’s Saturday night headliner, Billie Eilish, appeared to take a veiled swipe at West’s buddy, Travis Scott. Eilish paused her show in Atlanta in order to find an asthma puffer for a struggling crowd member. Before resuming, she commented, “I wait for people to be OK until I keep going,” which was interpreted as an allusion to Scott’s Astroworld catastrophe.

“Come on Billie we love you,” Ye wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Please apologize to Trav and to the families of the people who lost their lives no one intended this to happen Trav didn’t have any idea of what was happening when he was on stage and was very hurt by what happened.”

He added, “and yes Trav will be with me at Coachella but now I need Billie to apologize before I perform.”

Ye hasn’t performed live since 9th December, 2021, when he appeared alongside Drake at the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert at Los Angeles’ Memorial Coliseum. He was dropped from last week’s Grammys and his rumoured tour of Australia in March did not come to pass. According to Variety, Ye has not rehearsed or prepared for Coachella.
