Cry Club Announce Tour Dates For New Track ‘People Like Me’

Cry Club are back with new music!

The Melbourne duo’s new track is called ‘People Like Me’ is an absolute vibe and a great point of return. And to go along with the new music, Cry Club have announced that they will be hitting the road, returning to perform in venues along the east coast this July.

‘People Like Me’ was created during lockdown – a period of time that saw Cry Club’s Heather Riley and Jono Tooke experiment musically and come up with some of their most confident and ambitious material to date.

Listen to ‘People Like Me’ below.

It’s the first we’re hearing from Cry Club in a hot minute, but it’s great to hear them on fine form.

“We’ve been holding onto this one for a good long while now – initially written in one of the heavy lockdowns in Melbourne,” Tooke has explained.

“I think this song reflects our need for excitement in that time. Every act under the sun is gonna have their ‘what we did in lockdown’ music, but we found ourselves using that time as an outlet for having as much fun as possible and exploring into directions we previously thought were off limits to us.”

I often feel this pressure about being queer and trans, like I have to be sweet and kind at all times to prove that I deserve to be treated like any other person.” Riley added.

“It’s exhausting, just constantly having to justify my existence and to people who wouldn’t change their mind either way. I love this song so much, it’s finally letting all of that go and not just accepting but celebrating the fact that we don’t need permission or approval to do whatever the fuck we want. Releasing all that frustration and relishing in the bizarre power trip of being able to piss off bigots by simply existing as ourselves.”

Cry Club are set to kick off their tour in Wollongong on June 19th, before hitting stops in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney throughout the month. Check out the full run of shows below!
