Shygirl Announces Debut Album ‘Nymph,’ Shares Lead Single ‘Firefly’

UK experimental pop and new rave artist Shygirl has shared details of her upcoming debut album, Nymph. The record will be out on Friday, 30th September, through Because Music. Nymph‘s lead single, ‘Firefly,’ is streaming now.

Shygirl is the project of Blane Muise, who was born and raised in South London. Muise’s first releases under the Shygirl moniker surfaced in 2016. The project’s debut EP, Cruel Practice, came out in 2018. The follow-up EP, 2020’s Alias, gained international acclaim.

Over the past few years, Shygirl has collaborated with a range of contemporary pop music’s cutting edge performers. She appeared on the track, ‘papi bones,’ from FKA twigs’ 2022 mixtape, Caprisongs; remixed Lady Gaga’s ‘Sour Candy’ along with Mura Masa and BLACKPINK; guested on Arca’s KiCk i record; and released the single ‘BDE’ featuring slowthai.

Nymph includes collaborations with Mura Masa, Sega Bodega, Karma Kid, Arca, and Cosha, as well as producers Noah Goldstein, Danny L Harle, BloodPop, Vegyn and Kingdom.

Regarding her experimentalist disposition, Shygirl told Pitchfork, “A lot of time I’m asking like, ‘Why not? Why can’t we do it like this? Why can’t we put these two things together?'”
