Tame Impala To Headline Desert Daze With ‘Lonerism’ Anniversary Set

WA psych-rock exports Tame Impala are set to pay tribute to their breakthrough album later this year, headlining California’s Desert Daze festival with a 10th anniversary set in honour of 2012’s Lonerism.

Serving as the 10th anniversary of Desert Daze, Tame Impala will headline the three-day festival in Moreno Beach later this year, when it runs from September 30th until October 2nd. Alongside their appearance atop the bill, the group are also joined by the likes of Iggy Pop, Sky Ferrira, BadBadNotGood, JPEGMafia, Mild High Club, and fellow Aussies King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Released on 5th October, 2012, Lonerism was Tame Impala’s second full-length album, and their first global success. Winning Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album at the 2013 ARIA Awards, and being named as one of the year’s best by numerous publications, the record hit number four on the local charts, peaking within the top 20 in the UK, and the top 40 in Belgium, Ireland, New Zealand, and the US.

The record also boasted beloved tracks such as ‘Mind Mischief’, ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’, and ‘Elephant’, which appeared atop this year’s Hottest 100 countdown thanks to The Wiggles’ viral rendition of the song.

Tame Impala’s appearance at Desert Daze 2022 will be their second time at the festival, following an infamously protracted performance in 2018 where inclement weather cut their set short after just three songs.

Tame Impala are also joined by a strong local contingent at this year’s edition of the festival, with fellow Aussies such as the aforementioned King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard appearing on the bill alongside Pond, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, The Babe Rainbow, GUM, Surprise Chef, Mildlife, and Divide & Dissolve.
