Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen Join Paul McCartney For Glastonbury Set

Just one week after his 80th birthday, the iconic Paul McCartney has wrapped up a masterful headline set at the Glastonbury Festival, bringing out the likes of Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen for the occasion.

Taking place on Saturday night, McCartney headlined the penultimate night of the festival’s 2022 edition, and in true fashion, he brought out a handful of special guests.

Kicking things off with The Beatles’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, McCartney dipped into a number of Wings tracks, along with cuts from his solo catalogue. However, it was as he entered the latter third of his 38-song set that he brought out Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for a pair of collaborative songs.

Performing The Beatles’ ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and Wings’ ‘Band On The Run’ with Grohl, it marked the latest time that the two legends had collaborated. Previously working alongside each other and remaining members of Nirvana for the Grammy Award-winning 2013 track ‘Cut Me Some Slack’, the outfit had previously made their live debut at a benefit concert the following year.

Directly after Grohl’s appearance (notably, his first since the untimely passing of Taylor Hawkins in March), McCartney brought out Bruce Springsteen, who teamed up with the former Beatle for a rendition of his own track, ‘Glory Days’, before wrapping up with a rendition of the Fab Four’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’.

This wasn’t the first time the pair had played these track together recently either, with Springsteen having joined McCartney during his final US tour dates just over a week earlier.

Not content to let things rest there, McCartney pulled out all the stops for his five-track encore. Beginning things with a virtual duet with John Lennon during ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’, the concert was fittingly finalised with a performance of ‘The End’ with both Grohl and Springsteen.
