Kendrick Lamar Chants “Godspeed For Women’s Rights” During Powerful Glastonbury Set

Kendrick Lamar used the final moments of his headlining Glastonbury Festival set to reference the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, reversing the landmark 1973 decision that ruled the US Constitution protects a woman’s right to have a safe abortion.

During his final song of the evening, ‘Savior’, the rapper repeatedly chanted, “They judge you, they judged Christ / Godspeed for women’s rights,” while fake blood poured from a diamond-encrusted crown of thorns Lamar wore throughout the set. Watch that moment below.

Lamar performed a slew of other cuts from new album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers during his festival-closing set, including ‘Count Me Out’, ‘N95’, ‘Silent Hill’ and ‘United in Grief’.

Lamar is one of many artists who used their platform at Glastonbury to highlight the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the threat to reproductive rights that the decision poses. During her set, Olivia Rodrigo dedicated a cover of Lily Allen‘s ‘Fuck You’, joined by Allen herself, to the US Supreme Court.

“I’m devastated and terrified. So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” Rodrigo told the crowd. “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a shit about freedom. The song goes out to the justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you.”

Phoebe Bridgers – who has previously been open about her own experiences with abortion – led a chant of “Fuck the Supreme Court” during her own set.
