Former Manager Of Guy Sebastian Found Guilty Of Embezzlement

Almost two years to the day since he was arrested for the charges, Titus Day, the former manager of Guy Sebastian, has been found guilty of embezzling part of the singer’s earnings. As the ABC reports, the “long” and “complex” trial resulted in Day being found guilty of more than half of the 60-plus charges against him.

News of the legal battle first emerged back in August 2020, when Day was charged with fraud offences, having allegedly kept $1.15 million from the singer over a period of seven years (between December 2013 and April 2020). The pair’s professional relationship came to an end in 2017 after more than a decade of working together.

“My integrity and reputation have been questioned”

As Sebastian explained at the time, the lawsuit came after the pair launched separate lawsuits in 2018, with Sebastian claiming he was owed over $200,000 for completed work, while Day claimed he was owed $800,000 in unpaid fees.

“All my income was controlled via Titus into a Trust account and after noticing some disparities in payments, I requested important financial information that I was rightfully entitled to, and upon doing so our relationship began deteriorating,” Sebastian said at the time. “Over these last years, my integrity and reputation have been questioned, and many untruths have been publicly stated.”

Following months of delays, the trial came to a head in the NSW District Court yesterday (30th June), with Day being found guilty on more than 30 charges. Judge Tim Gartelmann SC ruled that Day had embezzled some, but not all, of the money that Sebastian had claimed he was owed.

Throughout the case, Day denied any wrongdoing and maintained his allegations that Sebastian still owed him money. A ruling on Day’s bail is expected to be made today.
