Harry Styles Copenhagen Show Cancelled After Fatal Shooting Near Venue

Harry Styles has cancelled a planned concert in Copenhagen, Denmark after a gunman opened fire in a shopping centre close to the venue, killing three people and leaving more critically injured. Large crowds had reportedly already gathered near the venue, the Royal Arena, and were asked to leave.

According to the Associated Press, the concert was called off by police following the attack, which took place at Field’s Mall in South Copenhagen. A 22-year-old Danish man was arrested outside the mall shortly after the shooting in connection to the crime.

Styles is “Heartbroken” Following the Tragedy

Styles, who is currently on the European leg of his Love on Tour, wrote on Twitter that he was “heartbroken along with the people of Copenhagen.” He continued: “I adore this city. The people are so warm and full of love. I’m devastated for the victims, their families, and everyone hurting. I’m sorry we couldn’t be together. Please look after each other.”

The European leg of Styles’ Love on Tour is expected to recommence tomorrow (5th July) with a concert in Paris, France before continuing to Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland and more.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen shared a statement to social media shortly after the attack. “Denmark was hit by a horrific attack on Sunday night,” she said. “Several people have been killed. Even more people were injured. Innocent families out shopping or eating. Children, young and adults.”

Frederiksen shared sympathies with those who’d lost loved ones and those injured and their relatives. “I would encourage the Danes to stand together and support each other in this difficult moment.”
