The Fauves Are Playing A Melbourne Headline Show This Month

Perennial ‘unsung heroes’ of the Australian rock scene, The Fauves, have announced a Melbourne headline show for July. The upcoming show will be taking place at the Brunswick Ballroom on Saturday, 30th July.

In a typically-irreverent press release shared alongside the show’s announcement, the performance is described as being the “last show till the next one”,  the “first show since the last one”, and notes that “entertainment [is] not guaranteed but heavily implied” while a “good time [is] not promised but certainly hinted at”.

The performance will be The Fauves’ first headline date in Melbourne since the release of their latest album, Driveway Heart Attack, in mid-2019. The group will also be joined by reformed ’90s alt-rockers Moler and Melbourne-based music collective Worker & Parasite.

The Fauves first formed in 1988 and released their first album in 1993. In 1996, their third album, Future Spa, earned them a nomination for Best Alternative Album at the 1997 ARIA awards, though they ultimately lost to Spiderbait.
