Carlos Santana Suddenly Collapsed Onstage During Detroit Concert

Guitar legend Carlos Santana has collapsed on stage in Detroit. The sudden collapse brought the ten time Grammy Award-winner’s show in a Detroit suburb to a sudden stop. The New Daily reports that the concerned audience watched as Santana was wheeled away by on-site medics and reportedly taken to a local hospital for observation. The collapse at the Pine Knob venue is said to have been caused by heat exhaustion.

The Guardian has since reported that despite fans being told to “pray for the 74-year-old musician”, the guitarist has now recovered from the incident. Santana shared an update on his condition via Facebook, writing, “To one and all, thank you for your precious prayers; Cindy and I we are good just taking it easy; forgot to eat and drink water; so I dehydrated and passed out; blessings and miracles to you all”.

The onstage collapse is the second incident in recent times to stir fears about the Mexican-born musician’s health. Santana was required to undergo an unscheduled heart procedure in December, which resulted in the postponement of a Las Vegas residency.

Santana is currently on tour with fellow music legends, Earth, Wind & Fire. Wednesday’s show in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, has been postponed as a precautionary measure.

Santana’s most recent album Blessings and Miracles was released last year and features the song ‘Move’, his latest collaboration with Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas. The song is the spiritual successor to the pair’s monster hit, ‘Smooth’.
