Watch Camp Cope’s New Video for ‘Running With the Hurricane’

Camp Cope released their stellar third album Running With the Hurricane a few months ago, and the Melbourne-based power-emo trio have now shared a video for its title track.

James J. Robinson and Rachael Morrow co-directed the video, which features the members of Camp Cope – vocalist Georgia Maq, bass player Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich (who was six months pregnant during the shoot) and drummer Sarah Thompson, as well as touring multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Aslett – belting out the track while the camera swirls.

“The video was made on beautiful Wurundjeri Country and it’s like a moment in time for us as a band,” the trio say of the clip, which was made just prior to the band embarking on a North American tour.

“Kelly is six months pregnant in it and keeps rocking out. Jenny, who has started playing live with us, graciously said yes to being in it even though she didn’t realise what it was for. We really wanted to capture the energy of the song, and that sometimes the only way out is up.”

Running With the Hurricane landed back in March after being previewed with ‘Blue’ and its title track. It’s the follow-up to 2018’s How to Socialise & Make Friends and the band’s 2016 self-titled debut.

Camp Cope made their global television debut in February, performing for CBS Saturday Morning in the US. The band also performed a powerhouse cover of Sam Fender‘s ‘Seventeen Going Under’ for triple j’s Like a Version the same month, before touring Australia in support of the album in May.
