Sydney-based trio BLISS N ESO have been championing Aussie hip hop for ten phenomenal years and getting better as they go. Their latest album Flying Colours, debuted in the top 10 of the Australian charts (another milestone for Australian hip-hop), became the highest selling hip-hop record the same year and with their third nomination in as many years, Bliss N Eso took out the ARIA Award for 2008’s Best Urban Release. See these three troublemakers from Sydney’s suburbs stir it up at Coaster!

UK electro punks DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? are returning to Australian shores for Coaster 2009. Straddling the cavernous divide between dirty rock and electronic music, the band have drawn comparisons to !!!, Digitalism and Justice. Armed with their unmistakable blend of driving electro rock, Does It Offend You, Yeah? are set to get the Coaster crowd tearing up the dance floor with their explosive live show. Since the release of their debut album Guillotine followed a year later by their second album Thieves (both of which were feature albums on triple j), British India have had a meteoric rise to fame the past two years. Prepare to be blown away when British India storm the stage at Coaster!

When it comes to thought provoking, street-bred raw lyricism, the Wu-Tang Clan’s fountain of wisdom, GZA/GENIUS takes his job very seriously. The way he crafts his double-edged rhyme flow mirrors the skill and precise technique of one who works with fine ceramics. GZA/GENIUS (WU TANG CLAN)’s metaphoric and multi-layered lyrics are often touted by critics as his rap name implies: genius. So listen up and listen hard when GZA/GENIUS hits Coaster in 2009!

Legend has it LA rock band THE BRONX will bring any crowd into a state of rowdy mad mosh mania. Stories speak of ear-bleeding rock, frenzied crowd-surfing by the band and fans and utter chaos. Fact or fiction? Put this legend to the test when these no frills hard rocking, party punk band wreak havoc on the Coaster stage!

Sydneysiders VAN SHE have cut their musical teeth supporting Australian heavyweights such as The Presets, End Of Fashion and Faker. Their debut album ‘V’ was recorded in London and saw the band working with noted producer Jim Abbiss who has collaborated with illustrious acts such as the Artic Monkeys, Ladytron & Kasabian. This June, Van She will release a remix album entitled Ze Vemixes. Be sure to catch Van She when they bring their own brand of synthesised moon rock to Coaster this September!

Indie dance heroes GRAFTON PRIMARY are bringing the party to the Coaster this September. Ever since THE FUMES exploded onto the Aussie rock scene in 2004 with a self-titled EP and the critically-acclaimed debut album Guns Of Gold in 2006, the infamous blues-rock duo have left slack jaws, ringing ears and wagging tongues in their wake. The Fumes’ second album, Sundancer was produced by Detroit-based garage-auteur Jim Diamond (The White Stripes). The album not only sees them hone their dirty blues-rock aesthetic, smokin’ grooves and classic ’70s-style gritty rock, but capture the ferocious, stripped-down aural assault they deliver live. Prepare to get down and dirty at Coaster with The Fumes!

Emerging from the shadows of Melbourne’s hip hop underground, PEZ burst onto the forefront of the Australian musical landscape with his break through single The Festival Song. Taken from his stunning debut album “A Mind Of My Own”, The Festival Song has attracted numerous accolades for the young MC; reaching No. 7 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 and 11 on the ARIA Australian Singles chart just to name a few. Be there when Pez gets the crowd bouncing at Coaster!

Sydney-based NZ-export GIN WIGMORE is a distinctive singer/songwriter, whose sound is driven by a startling voice and outstandingly honest songs; her delivery has been succinctly described by a critic as ‘whiskey and dry’ and her self-penned songs provide a refreshing new take on life as a ’20-something’ and yet relate across the generations. Fall in love with Gin Wigmore when she graces Coaster’s stage to treat us with songs from her upcoming debut album out later this year.

Australia’s own AJAX is fast becoming legend as an electroclash mash-up DJ known for his musical irreverence, and cut and paste mixing style.
