Future Music 2012 Leak: New Order, Mark Ronson & Duran Duran

Reliable sources have confirmed with Music Feeds, that New Order, Mark Ronson and Duran Duran will be announced on Future Music line-up this Monday morning.

This is massive news considering New Order haven’t toured Australia in 10 years. The band recently reunited in Belgium without Bass Player, Peter Hook.

Future Music Festival 2012 Second Announcement is here

The band’s decision to tour without Hook has seen a small feud erupt between the former bandmates, with Hook taking to the internet the day after New Order announced their first reunion show without him to voice his unhappiness, Hook said:

Everyone knows that NEW ORDER without PETER HOOK is like QUEEN without FREDDIE MERCURY, U2 without THE EDGE, SOOTY without SWEEP!

Going on to explain:

While I do not agree with the methods they have used and feel it would have been courteous and professional to have spoken to me in advance of the announcements.

He urged fans not to boycott the shows over intra-band politics, saying that:

It’s a great cause, raising money for Michael Shamberg’s ongoing medical support has my full support.

Also to be announced, this will be Mark Ronson’s second appearance on the Future Music Festival line-up in as many years, having also played on the 2011 line-up. No word as yet as to whether he’ll be bringing out the Mark Ronson & The Business Intl or a new show altogether, but after his stand-out performance at last year’s festival, it’s sure to be a highlight.

Finally, and a bit out of character for the festival, Duran Duran are also said to be joining New Order and Mark Ronson on the next announcement. The band have played a number of shows in Australia over the past decade may not be the first name that comes to mind when you hear Future Music, but in my mind their presence seems to belie the festival’s attempt to broaden its scope beyond just dance music.
