The Black Keys have just announced that in order to make up for cancelling their last tour of Australia the blues rock duo will be paying us a visit in late 2012. Patrick Carney, the drummer/producer half of the two piece revealed their plans while speaking to triple j’s The Doctor about the release of their seventh studio album El Camino.

“Yeah we finished making brothers about 2 years ago and after about a year of touring we wanted some new songs to play live (because) it’s more interesting for us,” Carney said. “So we were going to go into the studio in June but we moved it up when we cancelled the Australian tour. We cancelled it because we were burnt out on touring and brain fried I guess.
During the time we were meant to be doing Big Day Out we went into the studio with Danger Mouse.
“I think the plan is to come back December or January of this coming year. I guess there is a chance of some other stuff happening before that but we’re just waiting to see. But right now on our schedule, which is 16 months long, it’s blocked in there about 12 months from now.”
The album, currently triple j feature album of the week, is a continuation of the band’s consistent and unrelenting output of irresistible rock n roll, the title paying tribute to the band’s first ever tour van.
