Mumford & Sons Recording ‘Doom Folk’ Album

Mumford and Sons plan to release their second album in 2012 and bassist Ted Dwane has described their new sound as ‘Doom Folk’.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dwane said:

The second record is just a reflection of our mindsets, where we’re all at. It’s doom folk, kind of like Black Sabbath meets Nick Drake.

No release date or title has been confirmed for the album but the band plan to finish recording after a short US tour. A release date is expected to be announced for 2012.

Mumford and Sons released their highly successful debut album Sigh No More in 2009.
