Walk Off The Earth Covers Gotye – 5 people, Uno Guitar

What do you get when you have one guitar, five talented musicians, ten hands and I don’t even wanna know how many god damn takes … one epic cover! That’s what you get!

Canadian band Walk off the Earth’s adaptation of Gotye’s acclaimed (once awesome and catchy, now extremely overplayed and ruined) song, Somebody That I Used To Know, is that latest craze to go viral. It’s like Facebook has caught a rash.

The clip on YouTube features the five artists all positioned around the single guitar, slightly squished, but expressionless, each adding their own musical prowess to the song in some way (the guy second from the right looks somewhat awkward).

Whether it’s singing a verse or a timely pluck at the guitar string, they’ve either morphed Gotye into five people (I’ll trade you my one Gotye for your five musos) or the economy is in the real shit and this is what a ‘band’ is coming too. Either way, the humble drum kit better watch its back.

Through research, I’ve discovered that the indie group are really only known for their covers. So they may not be original, but I mean, who doesn’t love a good cover? I can’t really put a finger on their exact genre, but to give you an idea, they’ve covered songs by artists ranging from Adele to Rhianna to The Beatles and they even shuffled as far as LMFAO.

Who knows, one day they may just walk right off the Earth onto the stage with some of their own songs. But for now, stop reading and check it out! They may have even bought the song back to its former glory.
